Saint Knuds Kirke, or Odense Domkirke is the oldest and biggest church in Odense. The cathedral is mainly build in Gothic style. One of the curiosities of the cathedral is the crypt where you can see on display the skeleton of King Canute and also his brother Benedict. Den Fynske Landsby is an interesting open-air-museum consisting of about 30 traditional buildings of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Egeskov, one of Europe's best preserved Renaissance water castles, looks like a fairy-tale-castle, built on an island in a small lake about 40 km south of Odense. The castle is still inhabited but the wide park of Egeskov is open to the public. Inside the park you’ll find the veteran auto museum, the toy museum, the deer-park, a huge tree-house and a baroque garden-labyrinth. Odense is a charming little town with a rich concentration of galleries and museums and an engaging cultural scene. Copenhagen is clean, safe and easy to get to know. It is also one of Europe’s greenest cities and its public transport would make New York green with envy. Its centre is reserved for pedestrians and strict anti-pollution laws enforced. Despite this, a great mix of city bustle and small town friendliness has made it famous as Sweden's friendliest city for years. In a nutshell, Gothenburg is a lively city with interesting sights and an unrivalled seaside atmosphere. Poseidon rules the city, the gigantic bronze sea god statue bares his muscles in the middle of Gotaplatsen, the city’s art centre, but his domain extends far beyond. Seafarers auction their catch weekday mornings at the Fiskekorka, meaning fish church. It is an indoor fish market which got its name from the building's resemblance to a Gothic church. Though Gothenburg is a bustling city, it can be pretty and restful, especially in the many parks. Slottsskogen has lakes, birds, and a zoo with Swedish animals. Just beyond are the famous Botanical Gardens, with collections from all around the world. Museums abound, but two are of special interest. The Röhsska Museum, the national museum of Swedish design and applied art and the Gothenburg Art Museum, housed in a magnificent building flanked by the theatre and concert hall, it features a world-class collection of Nordic art. Gothenburg's Cathedral, Domkyrkan, was built in 1815 on the ruins of two earlier churches which burnt down in 1721 and 1802. The neo-classical building is located at Vastra Hamngatan in the middle of the city centre. Gothenburg is not at all an industrial city as such but more a logistic centre. No grim environments or tall chimneys at all. Instead you have a huge amount of green areas, archipelago and loads of sport and culture. The bustle of crowds, the cosmopolitan restaurants, the cafes along the popular Avery, and the nearby western cost of Sweden make this city a humming one.

Over de bestemming: Horten is een historisch stadje met een rijke geschiedenis. In 1818 vestigde de koninklijke marine basis Karjohansvern in het stadje. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog kwam de basis in handen van de Duitsers. Tegenwoordig is de scheepswerf omgetoverd tot een cultureel park. In het oude fort aan de haven bezoek je nu het Maritieme museum en het Preus fotografie museum. Net buiten Horten kom je meer te weten over de Vikingen. Karljohansvern cultureel park: Karljohansvern cultureel park HortenVlak bij het centrum van Horten ligt het Karljohansvern cultureel park op een schiereiland. Vroeger de basis voor de Noorse marine en nu een prachtig cultureel centrum. Ontdek de verschillende musea die in het oude fort gevestigd zijn. In de omgeving kan goed gewandeld en gefietst worden langs het kanaal. Op deze plek worden ook vaak verschillende culturele evenementen gehouden, waaronder muziekfestivals en concerten. De finish van de grootste jaarlijkse zeilrace van Noorwegen, de Færder Sailing Race, is ook op dit punt.

Over de bestemming: Breng een bezoek aan Eidfjord in Hardanger en dompel jezelf onder in de fantastische Noorse natuur met watervallen, fjorden en bergen in deze opwindende regio. De fraaie gemeente Eidfjord ligt in het oosten van Hordaland aan de Eidfjord, een zijtak van de Hardangerfjord. Een van de meest bezochte Noorse toeristische attracties is de grootste waterkrachtcentrale van Noorwegen bij de Vøringsfossen, een waterval van 182 meter hoog in Eidfjord die direct aan de Rijksweg 7 ligt. Maak een uitstapje naar het Simadal en wandel vanaf de weg omhoog naar de Sima-waterkrachtcentrale voor een rondleiding. Wandel vervolgens verder over het steile pad gedurende ongeveer anderhalf uur totdat je bij de Kjeåsen uitkomt, die ook wel bekendstaat als 'de meest onbereikbare boerderij ter wereld'. Vele schrijvers hebben boeken geschreven en de Noorse nationale omroep NRK heeft televisieprogramma's geproduceerd over deze toeristische attractie. De boerderij was al in de 17e eeuw bewoond, maar is tegenwoordig niet langer in gebruik.

Over de bestemming: Bergen is een sfeervolle havenstad in het westen van Noorwegen. Al in de middeleeuwen groeide Bergen uit tot een belangrijkste handelsplaats. Al snel was het zelfs één van de belangrijkste steden in het noorden van Europa. De grote bloeitijd voor Bergen begon op het moment dat het tot de hanzesteden begon te behoren. Een deel van de stad herinnert nog aan deze periode, zoals de historische wijk Bryggen die tegenwoordig als beschermd gebied op de werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO prijkt. Maar Bergen is veel meer. In de stad vind je mooie panden, interessante musea en natuurlijk water… heel veel water. Bergen ligt midden tussen de Noorse fjorden en is daarom een belangrijke uitvalsbasis voor fjordentochten. Ook voor de cruiselijnen is Bergen een populaire aanleghaven. Op drukke dagen liggen er vaak vier of vijf cruiseschepen tegelijkertijd voor anker. Omdat de wateren rond Bergen vol met vis zitten, is de Bergse vismarkt een populaire plek om te eten. Hier kun je verschillende soorten verse vis eten die op uiteenlopende wijzen klaargemaakt worden. Bergen wordt gedurende het hele jaar druk bezocht. Op het moment dat het voorjaar in volle gang is wordt het nog veel drukker en kun je op sommige dagen over de spreekwoordelijke koppen lopen.

Over de bestemming: Lillehammer is een klein Noors stadje op zo’n 170 kilometer ten noorden van Oslo. Toch doet Lillehammer misschien een belletje rinkelen, want in 1994 werden de Olympische Winterspelen hier georganiseerd. Overal in het stadje vind je daar nog sporen van. Bezoek bijvoorbeeld het Noors Olympisch Museum of ga naar de plekken waar atleten 15 jaar geleden het beste van zichzelf gaven. Ook in de omgeving van Lillehammer valt heel wat te beleven. Er liggen pittoreske stadjes en uitgestrekte natuurgebieden in de buurt die zeker een bezoekje waard zijn.

Het culturele Karlstad ligt ongeveer 300 km ten westen van Stockholm en 250 km ten noordoosten van Göteborg. Deze charmante stad aan het Vänermeer biedt bezoekers volop mogelijkheden voor culturele ervaringen en entertainment, met een operagebouw, verschillende theaters en museums in overvloed. Karlstad is al bekend als historisch belangrijk bolwerk sinds de Vikingen de dienst uitmaakten in de dorpen en bossen van Zweden, en in 1584 kreeg de plaats stadsrechten en zijn huidige naam, afgeleid van de voormalige koning Karel IX van Zweden. Over de bestemming: De stad Jönköping aan het Vätternmeer in Småland heeft veel te bieden, maar ook in de regio eromheen is ontzettend veel te doen. Als je voor Jönköping kiest uit uitvalsbasis voor je vakantie, ga je je niet vervelen. De regio Småland heeft veel te bieden en in en om Jönköping is genoeg te doen. Zeker voor families met kinderen. Jönköping ligt ideaal gelegen aan het Vättern en bezit om die reden alleen al twee kilometer wit zandstrand. Kijk, daarmee begint je vakantie altijd goed. Verder is Jönköping een gezellige provinciestad met leuke winkels en prima horeca. Bezoek het skatepark Olliewood en probeer zelf een stukje te skaten hier. Genoeg asfalt en shapes hier, want het skatepark is ruim 1200 vierkante meter groot en daarmee is Olliewood een van de grootste skateparken van Zweden. Jönköping heeft verder leuke musea voor families, waaronder het Jönköping County Museum (bekend van Johan Bauers trollen en ridder tekeningen) of het science center Upptech. Fietsen in Småland is een perfecte manier om het landschap te verkennen. Fiets door Jönköping zelf, langs het Vättern meer of door een van de vele natuurreservaten rondom de stad. Er zijn diverse routes voor ieder niveau. Dus of je nu van het ruige mountainbike werk houdt in de natuur of lekker met je gezin op pad wil, de regio biedt veel verschillende mogelijkheden.

With the completion of the Oresund Bridge in 2000 connecting Sweden to Denmark, Malmo is now only a 30 minute car or train ride from the centre of Copenhagen. With canals, beaches, and historical sites Malmo makes a wonderful tourist destination. Malmo is compact enough that you can walk to most of the major attractions. The historical city centre around the Main Square, Stortorget, offers an interesting mixture of old and new buildings, which can be perfectly explored on foot. West of the main square of Stortorget, there is the old town, Gamla Staden. It's a pleasant area filled with bars, restaurants and some very fine old houses. Some of these include the famous and cute little one storey houses which barely look big enough to house one lonely fisherman. Sankt Petri Kyrka, St. Peter's Church, is tucked away at the back of Stortorget, on Goran Olsgatan. It's a red-brick church, it’s the oldest building in Malmo, and an example of Baltic Brick Gothic from the 14th century. Pride of Malmo, its magnificent City Hall was the largest of its kind when it was built back in 1546. Today's town hall facade in Dutch Renaissance style was added in the 1860s and replaced a neoclassical facade from the beginning of the 1800s. On the facade you can see sculptural ornaments. Lilla Torg translates as "Little Square" and was built in the late 16th century as a commercial area for smaller market traders. Its present-day centrepiece is another of the city's quirky public artworks: the bedside lamp. The square is surrounded by some impressive medieval buildings and is also one of the top nightlife spots in the old city as it is home to many bars and pubs. In the pleasant green parks and coastal suburbs, such as Sibbarp, you get a good glance of the Swedish nature and landscape. Malmo is a creative and inquisitive city and Sweden most multicultural metropolis. Once a grey industrial city, it has reinvented itself as a modern and cool city with a vibrant night life.
