Stay
About the destination: Welcome to Verbania, a hidden gem tucked away in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, perched on the shores of the enchanting Lake Maggiore. This charming town is an ideal destination for travelers seeking a blend of Italian culture, stunning landscapes, and a tranquil atmosphere. In Verbania, you'll discover a perfect blend of nature, history, and Italian lifestyle, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring the Italian lakes. Begin your journey in the heart of Verbania at the lush gardens of Villa Taranto. Known for their botanical beauty, these gardens showcase an impressive variety of plant species from around the world, meticulously arranged to create a serene paradise. The villa itself is a testament to the region's history, providing a glimpse into the life of the Scottish captain Neil McEacharn, who transformed the estate into the botanical haven it is today. Stroll through the vibrant flowerbeds, under the shade of towering trees, and alongside ornamental ponds for a truly soothing experience. Next, venture to the old town of Verbania, where you'll find the enchanting Palazzo Borromeo on the picturesque Isola Bella, one of the stunning Borromean Islands. This 17th-century palace is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and art. Its elaborate gardens, adorned with white peacocks and stone statues, offer breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains. A boat trip to the island is not only a journey through the grandeur of Italian nobility but also a chance to relish the tranquil beauty of Lake Maggiore. Verbania is not just about historical sights and natural beauty; it's also a place to indulge in the rich culinary traditions of the region. Enjoy lakeside dining at its finest, savoring dishes made with fresh fish from the lake and locally grown produce. Don't miss the opportunity to try the regional specialties such as "risotto al pesce persico" (perch risotto) or the delicious "ossobuco" paired with a glass of local wine. As the day winds down, take a leisurely walk along the lakefront promenade, basking in the glow of the setting sun as it dips behind the distant Alps, casting a golden light over this picturesque Italian retreat.

Stay
About the destination: The Cinque Terre (Italian pronunciation: [ˈtʃiŋkwe ˈtɛrre]; Ligurian: Çinque Tære, meaning "Five Lands") is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera. It is in the Liguria region of Italy, to the west of the city of La Spezia, and comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over the centuries, people have carefully built terraces on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the sea. Part of its charm is the lack of visible corporate development. Paths, trains and boats connect the villages, and cars cannot reach them from the outside. The Cinque Terre area is a very popular tourist destination. The villages of the Cinque Terre were severely affected by torrential rains which caused floods and mudslides on October 25, 2011. Nine people were confirmed killed by the floods, and damage to the villages, particularly Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare, was extensive
