Barcelona is een prachtige stad gelegen in het noordoosten van Spanje. Onder Nederlandse toeristen is Barcelona al jarenlang de populairste stad op het Iberische schiereiland. De combinatie van perfecte winkelstad, veel bezienswaardigheden, heerlijk eten en de ligging aan het water maken van Barcelona de topbestemming die het is.

Het aantal dagen dat je nodig hebt om Barcelona te verkennen is vooral afhankelijk van persoonlijke voorkeuren. Als je een groot deel van de hotspots wilt bezoeken inclusief een aantal musea, dan heb je al snel een dag of vier tot vijf nodig. Wil je ook nog op je gemak een of twee dagen aan het strand doorbrengen dan moet je er één of twee dagen bij optellen. Barcelona heeft voldoende te bieden om er een hele week naartoe te gaan als het weer een beetje mee wil zitten. Wie korter dan 3-4 dagen gaat die zal keuzes moeten maken. Je kunt tijd besparen door zo efficiënt mogelijk te plannen. Ook het vooraf kopen (via internet) van kaartjes kan ervoor zorgen dat je meer kunt doen in minder tijd. Vraag je echter af of dat hetgeen is wat je wilt.

With its spectacular fortress, its steep narrow streets nestled within the city walls, its magnificent wetlands, golden beaches and the rugged Serra D’Irta Mountains, Peñíscola offers visitors a wide range of surprising and beautiful urban and natural environments to explore.

About the destination: Teruel is the capital of Aragón. The province is home to notable examples of Mudejar architecture. This is a prime example of the Mudejar architecture of Aragon, awarded the World Heritage Designation by the UNESCO. Other interesting destinations in the province are Albarracín, with its Arab fortress; Mora de Rubielos, which has one of the best conserved castles in Aragon; and Alcalá de la Selva, which is very popular with hikers due to its attractive landscapes. The local pork products are highly recommended, and particularly the cured ham from Teruel.

About the destination: Torrevieja is a coastal town and center of tourism in the south of Alicante province in Costa Blanca, Spain. It is situated within the district of Vega Baja. Torrevieja has a protected Natural Park with two salt lakes, and 20 km of coastline containing six large beaches (La Mata, Cabo Cervera, Los Locos, El Cura, Los Náufragos and Ferris) and about 20 coves with an abundance of cliffs, or enjoy in the Sea and Salt Museum. The town centre is one of the best places, with a wide and diverse variety of quality shops to enjoy. You will also find plenty of shopping centres, water parks and great nightlife, with pubs located in the marinas.

About the destination: Gandia is a city and municipality in the Valencian Community. Gandia is located on the Costa del Azahar, 65 km south of Valencia between the mountains and the beaches of The Mediterranean. Every year, this touristic city greets the arrival of springtime with a spectacular pyrotechnic festival known as Las Fallas. Various events and entertainments take place over the period of a few days, culminating in the Feast of Saint Joseph on 19 March. With its long, wide, golden, sandy beaches Gandia is one of the major tourist destinations in Spain. Las Fallas de Gandia have been celebrated since the end of the XIX century. This typical Valencian festivity is held from 16th to 19th March, this is when visitors can enjoy the numerous falleros monuments and street animation

About the destination: Valencia prizes its huertas, orchards, of citrus fruit trees, which flourish despite the arid conditions. Here visitors will find monuments to water, or fountains, and celebrations of vegetation, or gardens. This provincial capital, the third largest city in Spain, also offers a variety of museums and ancient monuments and buildings, all with a distinctly Moorish and nautical flavour. Valencia is the birthplace of both paella and orxata de chufas, and it provides the most authentic setting for sampling them. From the Old Town rises the Gothic and neoclassical Seu, Metropolitan Cathedral. Its tower, the Micalet, offers a far-reaching panorama of the historic centre of the city. The inside of the cathedral is notable for its cool simplicity and simple, but beautiful, six-panel altarpiece. The Museu de la Seu, the Cathedral Museum, claims among other lesser treasures, two large Goyas and one of Spain’s several supposedly authentic Holy Grails. Nearby is the Llotja de la Seda, the former silk exchange, with its handsome pillars. No matter if you like the modern or the old, Valencia has everything to offer. You can get lost at night in the historic centre and walk in front of the illuminated cathedral or visit La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, the City of Arts and Sciences, the avant-garde side of the city.
